Former Tikapur Mayor Fails to Secure Parliament Seat After Resigning for Election Bid

Kailali. The dream of Ram Lal Dagora Tharu, the former Mayor of Tikapur Municipality, to enter parliament could not be fulfilled.

Tharu, who resigned from the post of Mayor to contest the election for the House of Representatives member, finished in third place.

Tharu, who won the post of Mayor of Tikapur from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, secured 9,682 votes in the 2079 local level elections. He won the mayoral post by defeating the Nepali Congress candidate, Navaraj Rawal.

Tharu, who was leading Tikapur as Mayor, resigned from his post and entered the electoral arena with the goal of becoming a member of the House of Representatives. 

He contested the election from Kailali Constituency Number 1 on behalf of the Communist Party of Nepal. However, he could not achieve the expected success in the House of Representatives election. 

Tharu only received a total of 8,392 votes and was limited to third place.
