China Warns of Escalation in Middle East Conflict, Urges US for Immediate Ceasefire and Diplomacy

Beijing. China has warned of the danger of the fire of war spreading due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and has called on the United States to immediately return to a ceasefire and diplomatic negotiations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking at a press conference on Sunday, stated that the war happening in Iran would benefit no one. He said, 'This war should never have happened, and no one has benefited from the war.'

China, positioning itself as an important force for peace, stability, and justice in the world, has also urged all parties to exercise restraint to prevent the situation from escalating further by immediately observing a ceasefire. Yi emphasized that all parties must return to the negotiating table as soon as possible to resolve differences through equal dialogue.

This reaction from China comes at a time when Chinese President Xi Jinping is preparing to welcome US President Joe Biden in Beijing later this month for an important summit. That meeting between the world's two largest economies is considered very significant.

China has long maintained close ties with Iran. Beijing also appears concerned about the impact of the escalating war in the Middle East on rising oil prices and the global economy. It has been more than a week since the US and Israel began attacks on Iran, but there are no signs of the war stopping yet. Previously, Trump had stated that no agreement was possible with Iran, and only unconditional surrender would be acceptable.

'What is needed now is for both sides to make full preparations, create a favorable environment, manage existing differences, and remove unnecessary interference,' Wang said on Sunday. He added that China's stance has always been positive and open, and he urged the US to move in the same direction.
