Commission Submits Report on Citizenship Protests Investigation to Government

Kathmandu. The commission formed to investigate the citizenship protests has submitted its report to the government. The investigation commission, led by former Justice Gauribahadur Karki, submitted the report to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Sunday. Commission member Bigyanraj Sharma informed that the investigation report was handed over to the government.

The government formed the commission on Ashoj 5 to investigate the citizenship protests that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24. The commission recorded statements from more than 150 government officials and eyewitnesses regarding the incident on Bhadra 23 in Kathmandu's Baneshwor, where youths lost their lives during the protest.

When the citizenship movement took place, the government was under the leadership of KP Sharma Oli. At that time, Ramesh Lekhak was the Home Minister, Gokarnamani Duwadi was the Home Secretary, Chandra Kuber Khapung was the IGP, and Chhabilal Rijal was the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu.
