Rastriya Prajatantra Party Candidate Trails in Baitadi Despite High Expectations

Dhangadhi. This time, the Baitadi district became a center of special interest for the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in the election. As the home district of former Prime Minister and RPP founding leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand, the party's prestige was considered to be at stake here.

For this reason, the RPP fielded Chand's son, Bhupen Bahadur Chand, as a candidate in Baitadi this time. Bhupen, who is an IT engineer, pilot, and actor by profession, was campaigning door-to-door, presenting himself as a candidate with modern thinking and a clear political vision.

During the local body conventions before the election, having visited all ten local levels in the district, he claimed that the RPP's organization had become much stronger and wider compared to the past. He also claimed that he was popular among young voters due to his father's political legacy, his own expertise, and new thinking.

However, the election results did not meet expectations. The much-discussed candidate Bhupen Bahadur Chand lagged far behind in the vote count. He received only 2,681 votes, a result that failed to even cross three thousand votes.
