Nepali Congress Leader Ghimire Vows Respect for Voter Mandate After Election Defeat

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire has stated that the Nepali Congress will respect the mandate expressed by the voters in the election. Ghimire, who was a candidate for the House of Representatives from Morang-4, said that after his defeat, the completion of the election process and the announcement of results are beautiful aspects of democracy.

 ‘In a democratic system, elected results must be accepted easily. Democrats must prove they are democratic and republican through their conduct,’ Ghimire said in a video message posted on social media. 

Ghimire was defeated by Rabi Lamichhane's party candidate Santosh Rajbanshi. He also stated that the Congress has always respected the mandate expressed by the voters in the election.

 ‘We accept the mandate expressed by the voters in our constituency. And I wish Santosh Rajbanshi effective role in lawmaking and policy formulation as a member of the House of Representatives,’ Ghimire said. 

Ghimire stated that his support for this constituency will continue uninterrupted. Ghimire also urged everyone to move forward by maintaining internal coordination and consensus within the party.

He also expressed a commitment that equal treatment and merit would be highly valued. ‘We must rise above traditional factionalism. We must give importance to competition,’ Ghimire said in the video message.
