Rastriya Swatantra Party Candidate Secures Decisive Victory in Kaski-2, Ending CPN-UML's Long-Held Seat

Pokhara. There was a time when CPN-UML could not be defeated in Kaski-2, even if they lost across the country. CPN-UML, which defeated the powerful Maoists in the 2064 elections, failed to retain its legacy in Kaski-2 this time.

Rabindra Acharya, a former student union chairman of PN Campus who led student politics, is certain to be defeated by Uttam Prasad Poudel of the Rastriya Swatantra Party by a wide margin.

With only 11,000 votes remaining to be counted, Poudel has already established a lead of approximately 19,000 votes. The possibility of anyone other than Poudel winning the election from the remaining votes has ended. So far, Uttam has received 25,137 votes, while his closest competitor, Rabindra, has only 6,320 votes.

Madhav Prasad Bastola Madhu of the Nepali Congress, who came in third, secured 4,669 votes, while Hemjung Gurung of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 1,258 votes. Hem Bahadur Thapa (Kiran) of the Communist Party of Nepal received 1,107 votes.

Amidst the rising politics of RSP and the deteriorating organization of CPN-UML, the Congress, which had calculated to win, could not even save its own votes. Unexpected results are emerging in Kaski. RSP candidates also hold a wide lead in Constituencies 1 and 3.
