Eminent Scientist Mahabir Pun Fails to Cast Vote in Myagdi Despite Campaigning

Pokhara. Former Education Minister and House of Representatives candidate for Myagdi, Mahabir Pun, did not cast his vote. Despite campaigning for votes from Myagdi constituents for a month, he himself did not vote.

The founder of the National Innovation Center and a scientist, he had registered his name in the voter list only a short time ago. He has not voted yet. 

Pun stated that he could not vote because his voter registration was in Chitwan. 'My citizenship is from Chitwan. The voter list was also made from Chitwan,' he said, 'There is nothing else in Myagdi. The transfer of residence was not brought here. Now the problem has arisen.' He resigned as Education Minister to contest as an independent candidate. 
Pun mentioned that he was confused by the illusion that he could vote in the proportional representation category even if he didn't win in the direct election.

'They told me that I could vote from Myagdi for the proportional representation, so I was relaxed,' he added, 'When I was preparing to go vote at 4 o'clock earlier, I realized that one must go to the concerned polling station even for proportional representation.' His citizenship is registered in Rapti Municipality. 

He said jokingly, 'Now there is no question of going by helicopter, otherwise, it is not possible to travel by road now.' He expressed feeling disappointed for not being able to vote.
