Two Individuals Arrested in Chitwan for Violating Election Code of Conduct

Chitwan. Police have arrested two individuals in Bharatpur, Chitwan, for engaging in activities contrary to the election code of conduct and opposing the election. The police took two members of the CPN (Maoist Centre) into custody for violating the election code of conduct.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, they were arrested around 12:05 PM on Thursday from outside the Narayani Model Secondary School polling station in Bharatpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 10.

Those arrested are 29-year-old Suman Shrestha, the Chitwan District Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), and 21-year-old Kiran Gautam, the District Coordinator of the student organization close to the same party.

Shrestha, whose permanent address is Ghalchi Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 in Dhading, was currently residing in Bharatpur-7. Gautam is a permanent resident of Kalika Municipality Ward No. 4 in Chitwan.

Police Deputy Superintendent Rabindra Khanal, Information Officer for the District Police Office, Chitwan, informed that further investigation and necessary inquiry are underway regarding the two arrested individuals.

Police stated that strict monitoring is being maintained on those who violate the code of conduct to ensure peace and security during the election period.
