Dahal calls on all to unite against 'parochial' nationalism
Janakpurdham - CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called on the people of mountain, hill and Terai to unite to overcome what he claimed 'dogmatic' nationalism intended to separate the hill and the Madhesh.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Centre, Nepal Dhanusha chapter in Janakpurdham today, the former Prime Minister stressed that people's alertness was needed to blunt the illusions and extremist attitudes seen in the hill and Madhes.
All people should feel it their responsibility to defeat such forces which were trying to sow the seed of animosity and lead the country toward division in the name of nationalism, and to contribute to keep the national unity, independence and sovereignty intact.
He went on to say that efforts were on to pass the constitution amendment proposal to address the Madhes demands.
In his response to a query, he said 'one-Madhes one province' was not the agenda of his party.
The Maoist Centre chairman took the time to claim that his statement for reconstituting the party while not dismantling was misinterpreted by the media.
Pledging to make initiation from the party level to announce Janakpurdham a Metropolitan City as the main hub of Province 2, he said he was confident that his party would emerge as the number one party in this province in the upcoming third phase of the local-level election being held in the province.
