Police Debunk Viral Social Media Claims of Violence During Okhaldhunga Voting

Kathmandu. Police have stated that videos and news circulating on social media claiming that voting was disrupted and a person was injured by a gunshot in Okhaldhunga are false. The District Police Office, Dolakha, strongly refuted the news that spread on social media.

A scene showing a clash and the army firing shots on Thursday has gone viral on social media platforms like Facebook. DSP Madan KC of Okhaldhunga stated via Facebook that the information spread on that platform is completely false and misleading. He said, 'Peaceful voting is taking place in Okhaldhunga.'

The police informed that they are identifying and searching for individuals involved in spreading false rumors to create fear among the general public. The police also warned that necessary action will be taken against those spreading such misleading information according to the law.
