Iranian Cleric States Process to Choose Successor for Late Supreme Leader Nearing Final Stage

Tehran. Senior religious scholar Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami has stated that the process to select the successor for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reached its final stage.

‘The Supreme Leader will be identified as soon as possible. We are close to a conclusion, but the country's situation is like a state of war.’ 

Khatami, a member of the Guardian Council and the Assembly of Experts, said this while speaking to state television. Meanwhile, news has emerged that the late leader Khamenei's eldest son is alive.
