Speaker Mahara directs lawmakers to be constructive in course of formulating laws

Kathmandu –Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has directed the parliamentarians to be fully devoted in the task of formulating laws. 

Inaugurating an orientation organised with an objective of imparting knowledge to lawmakers of Federal Parliament about the overall parliamentary process including laws formulation, Speaker Mahara suggested them to be alert and constructive while formulating laws as formulating laws and policies are the main duty of parliamentarians. 

He said, "It is necessary to increase presence of lawmakers in the House. People want to see their representatives being more active and constructive. We have expected positive support from parliamentarians for the same." 

Similarly, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Timilsina urged the government to formulate the laws on time in order to carry out activities in a smooth manner. 

He said, "The government should end the trend of visiting ministries by local representatives carrying files of people's work leaving the House meetings." 

Timilsina also suggested the lawmakers to utilize their leisure time by reading books at the library of Federal Parliament Secretariat at Singha Durbar. 

Likewise, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sher Bahadur Tamang, urged the parliamentarians to pay attention in formulation of laws related with people's welfare. 

General Secretary at the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Manohar Prasad Bhattarai, said that the two-day orientation was organised with an objective of imparting knowledge to lawmakers about parliamentary process and work executions. 

More than 200 lawmakers of House of Representatives and National Assembly have been participating in the orientation organised at Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor.
