Environment Ministry continues cleanliness campaign, garbage piles rile minister

Kathmandu –The Ministry of Forest and Environment continued its cleanliness programme in the central capital today, too. 


The cleanliness drive that began from the local Tundikhel area concluded upon reaching near the Annapurna Neuro Hospital locating near the southern entrance to the Singha Durbar after passing through Bhadrakali, Singha Durbar west gate, Maitighar Mandal, Babarmahal, and Nepal Oil Corporation area. 


The programme supported by the 'We Love You Foundation' was headed by Forest and Environment Minister Shakti Bahadur Basent. He himself joined the campaign, wearing a mask and carrying a broom. 


As he saw piles of waste in front of the central office of Rastriya Banijya Bank and the Rastriya Beema Sansthan, he summoned the employees of both offices in no time and ordered them to immediately clear off the garbage. He also warned that they would be fined if he had to see the same again. 


Canteens inside and outside the Singha Durbar area were also asked to maintain hygienic practices and cleanliness. 


The Ministry has launched the Nepal Clean Environment Campaign since Tuesday coinciding the World Environment Day. It has appealed to the mass people for their support and cooperation to make the campaign a success. ( photo available) ---
