Final Preparations Underway in Myagdi for House of Representatives Election

Myagdi. Preparations in Myagdi for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Thursday have reached the final stage.

Election materials including ballot papers, ballot boxes, security seals, and rubber stamps are being transported from the district headquarters Beni by staff and security personnel towards the polling stations. District Election Officer Bimal Prasad Gautam informed that staff and security personnel will reach all 82 polling stations in Myagdi by this evening.

The ballot papers required for the election were handed over to the Polling Officers from the Office of the Chief Election Officer, while 51 other types of materials were provided by the District Election Office.

Staff deployed to polling stations located in distant areas under Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, Malika Rural Municipality, Raghuganga Rural Municipality, and Annapurna Rural Municipality were provided with election materials on Sunday itself. Staff assigned to polling stations in Mangala Rural Municipality and Beni Municipality received election materials on Monday.

Staff reached the polling stations on Monday and began preparatory election-related tasks such as posting notices, ensuring the removal of election campaign materials of political parties and candidates around the polling stations, and monitoring the election code of conduct.

A total of 1,074 election employees, including 122 Polling Officers and 122 Assistant Polling Officers, have been deployed to conduct the election in Myagdi. In Myagdi, which has one constituency for the House of Representatives, 12 candidates, including one independent, are in the electoral race.

The district has a total of 42,332 male voters, 44,064 female voters, and one 'other' voter. For voting in the district, 120 voting centers have been established across 82 polling stations, and one temporary voting center has been designated for proportional representation voting for the jail and staff populations.

In the House of Representatives election in the mountainous district of Myagdi, which has a single constituency, Karna Bahadur Bhandari (KB) of the Nepali Congress, Harikrishna Shrestha of CPN-UML, Arjun Thapa of the Communist Party of Nepal, and independent candidate Dr. Mahabir Pun are seen as the main contenders. The candidates have completed door-to-door canvassing in rural areas and are now focusing on the district headquarters Beni and other market areas.
