Holi Festival Kicks Off Across Nepal with Joy and Festivities

Kathmandu. The festival of Holi, a celebration of joy for Nepali people, has begun. The celebration of Holi started this morning across the Kathmandu Valley and throughout the country. Holi, which is celebrated on the day of Fagu Purnima, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm this year as well.

People have started gathering in Basantapur, Kathmandu, to celebrate Holi. People are gathering to celebrate Holi in places including Basantapur and Tundikhel. Furthermore, there is currently a crowd of people performing the Chir Puja, which began a week ago with the erection of the Chir in the Basantapur Durbar Square area.

Today, on the occasion of Fagu Purnima, Holi is being celebrated by playing in the hilly regions of the country. It is the tradition to celebrate this festival by playing Holi in the hilly districts today and in the Terai districts tomorrow.
