Pakistan Defeats Sri Lanka in Thrilling T20 World Cup Match, But Fails to Qualify for Semifinals

Batting first in the match held on Saturday at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy, Pakistan set a massive total of 212 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Winning this match alone was not enough for Pakistan to reach the semifinals. According to the equation formed after England defeated New Zealand on Friday, Pakistan needed to defeat Sri Lanka by a large margin of at least 64 runs or chase the target within 13.1 overs to surpass New Zealand in net run rate.

However, due to securing a narrow victory in Saturday's match, Pakistan fell behind in net run rate and was eliminated from the tournament. With this, although Pakistan achieved a consolation win in its final match of the T20 World Cup, its journey in the tournament has ended.
