Fourteen Members, Including Founding Coordinator, Resign from Rastriya Swatantra Party in Kathmandu Constituency-5

Fourteen members, including the founding regional coordinator for Kathmandu Constituency Number 5 of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), have submitted their collective resignation. They resigned en masse last Tuesday citing dissatisfaction with the party leadership.

Those resigning include founding regional coordinator Madhusudhanadhwaj Khadka, municipal representative of Budhanilkantha Municipality (BUNPA) Ward 3 Ram Shrestha, Jaya Shrestha of BUNPA Ward 3, and members of BUNPA Ward 4, Samip Ghale and Kabi Thapa Magar.  

Similarly, the ward officials include Pratibha Sedhain of BUNPA Ward 7, Kiran Thapa of BUNPA Ward 7, Chiranjivi Adhikari, an RSP member from Tokha, account members Sujana Basnet and Shobha Subedi, and members from BUNPA Ward 4: Prabhat Maharjan, Rajesh Thapa, Madhav Thapa Magar, and Anjana Bogati.

The resignation letter states that while they were striving to reform the irregularities recently observed within the party after joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party, they felt that instead of reforming, the party leadership was increasing irregularities.  

The resignation letter stated, 'There is widespread financial irregularity under the cover during the process of selecting candidates through the primary system. As the party has undermined our desire to build the nation in an environment of democracy and good governance, and as the party's activities have caused disappointment at the local level, we hereby submit our resignation, effective from today, ceasing to be even ordinary members of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.'
