Kathmandu Constituency 5 Candidate Sasmik Pokharel Unveils Plan for Regular Community Hearings

Kathmandu. Sasmik Pokharel, the House of Representatives candidate for Kathmandu Constituency No. 5, has unveiled a plan to conduct regular and institutional community hearings during his potential five-year tenure.

Pokharel announced that he will organize public hearings, focusing on one ward center every month. Accordingly, the goal is to complete a total of 60 public hearing programs over five years. He stated that the plan ensures direct hearings at least four times in all 15 wards under Constituency No. 5.

According to him, the community hearing program will not just be a formal meeting but a structured practice to establish direct dialogue and accountability between the representative and the citizens. "The culture of forgetting the elected representative after the election must end. A culture of meeting the public regularly, publicizing progress, and answering questions must be developed," said Pokharel.

Under the program, hearings will be organized through an open forum in the respective ward itself. It has been stated that local residents will be able to ask direct questions on issues such as infrastructure, education, health, employment, and good governance. He mentioned that the problem-solving process will be advanced by ensuring the participation of representatives from relevant bodies as needed.

Pokharel expressed his commitment to implementing this plan throughout his tenure, not just as an election slogan.
