India Stuns Australia by 17 Runs to Clinch Historic T20I Series Victory Down Under

Sydney. The Indian women's cricket team stunned the strong rivals Australia by 17 runs in the third and final T20I match. With this historic victory, India clinched the three-match series 2-1. This is India's first T20I series win on Australian soil since 2016, and it also marks the first time they have won a series by defeating Australia in their home ground.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, the Indian team posted a strong total of 176 runs, losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Opener Smriti Mandhana played an explosive innings for India. She scored a magnificent 82 runs off just 55 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes. It was because of Mandhana's performance that she was named Player of the Match. She was strongly supported by Jemi Rodrigues, who contributed a crucial 59 runs off 46 balls.

Chasing a target of 177, the Australian team was bundled out for 159 in 19.4 overs. For India, Shreyanka Patil and Sree Charani bowled lethally with the ball. Both took 3 wickets each, shattering Australia's middle order. Arundhati Reddy took 2 wickets, while Renuka Singh Thakur claimed 1 wicket.

Chasing the target on home ground, Australia had a very poor start. The team lost its first wicket, Georgia Ware (10 runs), with the score at just 19 runs. Star batter Beth Mooney was also out for only 6 runs, putting Australia under pressure.

Although Ashleigh Gardner played a half-century innings of 57 runs for Australia, she could not save the team from defeat. Losing wickets at regular intervals, Australia could only manage 159 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs.
