Election Commission Yet to Decide on Incident Involving Rastriya Swatantra Party Activists Burning CPN-UML Flag in Dang

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that it has not yet made a decision regarding the incident in Tulsipur, Dang, where activists of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) allegedly burned the flag of the CPN-UML last night.

Responding to a question from journalists during the commission's regular press conference on Friday, Assistant Spokesperson Sita Pun stated that the commission has not yet made an official decision.

'If there are acts contrary to the election code of conduct, the Election Commission will take action under the Election Offenses and Punishment Act. Since the commission has not yet decided on this matter, I do not need to elaborate further here,' Pun said.

The CPN-UML has accused RSP activists of burning the flag bearing the sun symbol while waiting to welcome RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane as he was traveling from Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, to Dang.

She also mentioned that the commission expects political parties to start operating their election accounts from February 4 (Falgun 4).
