President Paudel Wishes for Sustainable Peace, Good Governance on Democracy Day

Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed his hope that Democracy Day will help in achieving the national goals of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.

Extending best wishes on the occasion of National Democracy Day, 2082, President Paudel paid tribute to all who contributed to Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity, national interest, self-respect, and the various movements for democracy. He wished that Democracy Day would help in achieving the national goals of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.

The message of best wishes stated, "I pay heartfelt tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in the numerous struggles for the establishment of democracy, and I express respect and reverence to the pioneers who guided the many movements for the establishment of democracy in the country."

President Paudel mentioned that it is everyone's shared responsibility to make the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 successful in charting the path towards the constitution, democracy, and the good governance and rapid development desired by the people, and he appealed to everyone to contribute to it.

President Paudel stated that Democracy Day, celebrated every year on Falgun 7, commemorates and honors the historic achievement of securing human rights and civil liberties as a result of the sacrificial struggle against autocracy following the success of the revolution in 2007 BS. He added that since the principle that the sovereignty of the nation must reside with the people was established through the struggle of the people and the sacrifice of the martyrs, this day is marked as a glorious and unforgettable day in Nepal's history.

Stating that the revolution of 2007 BS was an important foundation for the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic achieved through long struggle and sacrifice, and for the creation of the current constitution made by the people themselves, he mentioned that Democracy Day will permanently establish the importance of civil rights and always remind us of the immortal saga of the martyrs.

"The Federal Democratic Republic is a significant achievement gained by us Nepalis through a struggle of more than seven decades. Democracy will further strengthen comprehensive national unity along with social justice, equality, social harmony, and prosperity," the message of best wishes stated, "It has established the principle that the people are the entire source of state power. Nepal's constitution has adopted the system of Federal Democratic Republic and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy based on justice and equality."

President Paudel also appealed to everyone to engage in the work of development and prosperity of the country through good governance, which is the ultimate goal of the Federal Democratic Republic.
