Pistol and Ammunition Stolen from Jhapa Police Station Recovered

Jhapa. Police have recovered a pistol and bullets that were looted from the Area Police Office, Anarmani, in Birtamod, Jhapa, last Bhadra.

The weapon, looted from the police office itself during the 'Genji' protest on Bhadra 24, was found in a house in Mishra Tole, Kankai Municipality-8.

Acting on a special tip-off, a joint team from the Area Police Office, Anarmani, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Kakadvitta, searched the house of Tul Bahadur Thapa Magar. During the search, 1 'CF98' pistol, 1 magazine for the same pistol, and 40 rounds of ammunition were recovered, hidden by his 22-year-old son, Saugat Thapa Magar, inside a plastic drum behind the chicken coop, the Jhapa District Police Office stated.

During the investigation, after confirming that the weapon and ammunition were looted from the Anarmani police, the police arrested 22-year-old local Sujay Rajbanshi, who was involved in the looting of the weapon.

Police spokesperson Khagendra Bahadur Khadka stated that the main accused who hid the weapon, Saugat Thapa Magar, is currently absconding and is being intensely searched for. Further investigation and legal action under the Muluki Criminal Code 2074 have been initiated against the arrested Rajbanshi.
