Nepal's Foreign Minister to Attend New Bangladesh Prime Minister's Swearing-in Ceremony

Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Bhalananda Sharma is set to travel to Bangladesh. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that he is leaving for the country on Monday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister of the newly formed government in Bangladesh as a guest.

The interim government formed in Bangladesh following student protests in 2024 recently held elections. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured a majority in those elections.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to take the oath as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has sent invitations to heads of government from countries including Nepal, India, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan for the swearing-in ceremony.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the National Parliament complex in Dhaka. The Prime Minister's oath is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 PM. Foreign Minister Sharma is expected to return to Nepal on Wednesday after attending the swearing-in ceremony and holding some high-level meetings.
