Army Chief Directs Troops to Ensure Peaceful General Elections

Kathmandu. Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel has issued a special directive to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives elections are conducted peacefully. Addressing all ranks of the Nepali Army during a special program organized at the Army Headquarters today on the occasion of Mahashivaratri and the 262nd Army Day, he gave special instructions to complete the election process peacefully while excellently fulfilling the responsibilities that the Nepali Army has been carrying out in various sectors.

The Military Public Relations and Information Directorate stated that he also directed that the history of Nepal and Nepalis be studied and taught in all military training sessions to learn from Nepal's glorious saga, traditions, culture, identity, pride, and historical lessons.

In a separate program organized today, he paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at the Martyrs' Memorial and the Army Parade Ground in Tundikhel. Similarly, he also honored the families of martyred soldiers at the Martyrs' Memorial in Chhauni.
