Nepali Army Takes Over Security of Darchula District Jail

Darchula. The security of the District Jail Office located in the district headquarters Khalanga has been taken over by the Nepali Army. The Nepali Army assumed responsibility for the security of the District Jail Office starting Thursday.

A team of 10 personnel led by Second Lieutenant Anvesh Gurung from the Shreedal Battalion, located in Khalanga headquarters, has been deployed for jail security. Previously, a team from the Nepal Police was providing security at the jail. The police team is currently also deployed for jail security.

The Nepali Army has been deployed at the jail in accordance with the Cabinet's decision to deploy the army for security at jails and important projects considered highly sensitive from a security perspective. Chief District Officer Anil Poudel informed that the army has been stationed at the Darchula Jail according to the same decision. According to him, security management has been advanced through necessary coordination as per the government's directive.
