Kathmandu Traffic Police Finalizes Security Plan for Maha Shivaratri Crowds at Pashupatinath

Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has prepared a security plan to ensure the safety and orderly management of the crowds expected at the Pashupatinath area during the Maha Shivaratri festival.

On Sunday, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has streamlined traffic management to ensure a smooth flow of movement and darshan for devotees and visitors coming to Pashupatinath for worship.  

Parking Management Details

• Vehicles of devotees, pass holders, and security personnel at Sifal Chaur.
• Vehicles of pilgrims and devotees across the Guheshwori temple.  
• Vehicles of pass holders at the Pashupati Area Development Trust office / Bhandarkhal.
• Vehicles of pilgrims, devotees, and tourists at Tilganga Eye Hospital and the corridor.  
• Vehicles of organizations operating camps in the Banakali area, fire trucks, ambulances, water tankers, and security personnel vehicles.  
• Vehicles of pass holders and government vehicles at the Police Circle Gaushala.

According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, parking arrangements have been made at separate locations for the vehicles of devotees entering through various entry points.  

Arrangements have been made for uninterrupted movement for the convenience of devotees coming from afar, and parking spots have also been designated. If the movement of vehicles on the main road via the Gaushala area becomes impossible due to the heavy rush of visitors, vehicle movement in the Gaushala area will be prohibited, and alternative routes will be used for smooth movement. For this, a large number of traffic police will be deployed on the corridor road and inner roads.  

Vehicular movement is arranged to be smooth in the Chabahil, Gaushala, and Tilganga areas, but if the crowd of devotees becomes excessive and causes problems for vehicle movement, diversions will be implemented to operate vehicles via alternative routes.  

All cargo vehicles coming from Tinkune towards Sinamangal, from the Baudha area towards Gaurighat, and towards Old Baneshwor, Gaushala, and Mitrapark will be restricted as necessary.  

Vehicles coming via the Bagmati Corridor and Jorpati towards Chabahil have been assigned parking locations across Guheshwori. If the Gaushala Chowk becomes too congested for vehicles to move, alternative routes will be arranged for vehicles operating on routes from Chabahil towards Gaushala, Old Baneshwor towards Gaushala, Gyaneshwor Maitidevi Mor via Ratopul towards Gaushala, and Sifal Chaur towards Jayabageshwori.
