Acting Chief Election Commissioner States Elections Are Sole Means to Return Nation to Normalcy

Kathmandu. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ramprasad Bhandari has stated that elections are the only means to bring the country back on track. Speaking at an event organized here today by the Community Radio Broadcasters Association on the occasion of the 15th World Radio Day, he mentioned that the Commission is working diligently to conduct elections to restore the rhythm and discipline of the country, which deviated following the agitation on Bhadra 23 and 24.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari called upon radio journalists and all mass media personnel to play a significant role in conducting the elections and requested their cooperation accordingly. He emphasized that community radios must spread awareness and consciousness, as attempts are being made to disrupt the elections by spreading false, misleading, and harmful information through social media.

“An understanding has been reached with TikTok to stop the false, misleading, and harmful information disseminated through social media, and an agreement with Meta is also in process. Agreements have also been made with other media outlets within the country to verify the truthfulness of such information,” said Acting Chief Commissioner Bhandari.

During the program, the election code of conduct prepared by the Association for radio journalists was read out. Acting Chief Commissioner Bhandari also urged for cooperation in spreading awareness by informing all community radios about the code of conduct issued by the Association and the Election Code of Conduct.
