Rastriya Prajatantra Party Leader Khushbu Oli Stresses Monarchy's Role in Unifying Nepali Society

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Khushbu Oli stated that although Nepali society is divided based on caste, class, region, and ideology, the monarchy is the force that can bind the nation into a single national thread. She made this assertion public through the social media platform Facebook.

Oli mentioned that historical institutions play a significant role in maintaining national unity and stated that a renewed debate on the monarchy is necessary in the current situation. Former King Gyanendra Shah returned to Kathmandu on Friday after spending a few months in Jhapa. Thousands of royalists welcomed him as he proceeded towards Nirmal Niwas from Tribhuvan International Airport.

His supporters also chanted slogans demanding the restoration of the monarchy. Supporters had gathered outside the airport since early Friday morning following the news of Shah's arrival.

Shah arrived in Kathmandu from Jhapa via a helicopter from Kailash Helicopter Services. Police reported that traffic management was affected in the areas from the airport to Gaushala, Chabahil, and Maharajgunj due to the demonstration and rally held in support of Shah.
