Former King Gyanendra Arrives in Kathmandu Amid Tight Security at Airport

Kathmandu. Former King Gyanendra is arriving in Kathmandu today from Jhapa. Supporters of the former king have made preparations to welcome him at the airport. The United People's Movement Committee led by Navaraj Subedi has called for a grand welcome by gathering at Tribhuvan International Airport at 12 o'clock.

Local administration has tightened security arrangements due to fears that unruly activities might occur during the welcome program. Police have been deployed under the command of 20 DSPs from the airport's Golden Gate to Nirmal Niwas.

SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range told Ratopati that entry will be strictly controlled as a prohibitory order has been enforced inside the airport premises. He stated, 'Entry inside the Golden Gate has been prohibited; security personnel have been deployed on the outer road as needed.'

Security personnel from the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department have also been deployed in the airport area.
