CPN Chairman Prachanda States Elections Are the Only Way Forward Amid Current Situation

Baglung. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), has stated that there is no alternative to elections in the current situation.

Addressing a public dialogue program on Wednesday, he said that since the country is in a difficult situation, elections are the only way to resolve it. Chairman Dahal stated that although some parties have raised issues like the reinstatement of parliament and the formation of an all-party government, the CPN is not paying attention to those matters.

He said, "This election did not come because we wanted it; we were thinking of holding it in 2084. This election has come due to an extraordinary situation, and there is no alternative but to make good use of this election. For honest communists and patriots, going to the people is the strongest medium, which is the election."

Dahal stated that the Communist Party of Nepal was formed with the objective of uniting the leftist and patriotic forces in the country given the current circumstances. He mentioned that the CPN is committed to protecting the country from the current uncomfortable situation and safeguarding the achievements gained through long struggle and sacrifice.

Chairman Dahal stated that the 'Janjati' movement was aimed at making the country corruption-free, establishing good governance, and maintaining civil liberties, but vested interests of domestic and foreign powers caused destruction. He emphasized the need for the leftists to unite for the country's transformation.

"The youth took to the streets with the intention that the 'Janjati' movement should ensure the country is free from corruption, establish good governance, and maintain civil liberties; we all respected that, but there was infiltration there," he said. "Domestic and foreign powers worked to turn the country into destruction according to their interests; this is sad for all of us."
