Family Members Protest After Fatal Road Accident in Ramechhap Kills 12

Manthali. Following the death of 12 people in a vehicle accident in Ramechhap on Tuesday, the relatives of the deceased surrounded the District Administration Office on Wednesday.

Relatives who gathered in front of the District Administration Office in Manthali in the afternoon chanted slogans demanding appropriate compensation. It is reported that there was a minor scuffle during the siege of the administration office. However, an official from the District Police Office informed that the situation came under control by the evening.

Twelve people died in the car accident that occurred in Ramechhap on Tuesday. Most of the deceased are reported to be locals from Liku Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-Bijulikot.

The vehicle involved in the accident is said to be under the Arniko Transport Service Committee. Relatives of the deceased demanded that responsible persons from the committee be present to ensure appropriate compensation. However, relatives allege that the committee neglected their demands by only sending a representative from the bus counter.

Citing inadequate compensation, the relatives also refused to claim the bodies. They also put forward the demand that the treatment of the injured be carried out effectively. The administration stated that talks with the victims' side are ongoing.

Relatives of the deceased also obstructed the Manthali-Khurkot road from Wednesday morning.
