Government Spends Only 12.12% of Allocated Budget in First Half of Fiscal Year 2082/083

Kathmandu. Only NPR 690.78 billion out of the total budget allocated for the fiscal year 2082/083 has been spent.

The government had allocated a budget amount of NPR 1964.11 billion for the fiscal year. The amount spent represents 12.12 percent.

According to the mid-year evaluation report of the budget for the fiscal year 2082/083 made public by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday, 41.25 percent of the current expenditure, 12.12 percent of the capital expenditure, and 40.95 percent of the financial expenditure have been spent in the first six months out of the allocated amount.

The Ministry stated that the low capital expenditure is due to the lack of project preparation, complications in land acquisition and forest area utilization, and damage to physical infrastructure caused by the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24.
