Udayapur Launches HPV Vaccination Campaign to Prevent Cervical Cancer

Udayapur. An 'HPV' vaccination campaign has been launched in Udayapur to prevent cervical cancer. The administration of the HPV vaccine has begun for 4,438 girls aged 11 to 14 studying in grade 6 across eight municipalities in the district.

According to the District Health Office, the vaccination drive started in the respective municipalities on Monday and is scheduled to conclude on Falgun 29. Vaccination supervisor Chiranjibi Niroula stated that while 18,000 girls in the district were vaccinated in previous years, this time the target is to vaccinate 4,438 girls, including those receiving routine vaccinations and those missed in previous years.

For this initiative, 394 vaccination centers have been established in every government and private school in the district, with 364 health workers and 394 volunteers mobilized. It is reported that the vaccine will help protect young girls from future cervical and breast cancer.
