Birgunj Customs Revenue Heavily Reliant on Petroleum and Vehicle Imports

Birgunj. The revenue share of the Birgunj Customs Office is dependent on the import of petroleum products and vehicles. The office collected revenue of NPR 116.58 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year. However, the share of revenue collection from petroleum product imports alone amounted to NPR 37.85 billion in six months.

The second largest revenue collection came from the import of transport vehicles and their spare parts, generating NPR 13.98 billion in revenue. Udaya Singh Bista, Information Officer for the office, stated that Birgunj Customs revenue is dependent on the import of petroleum products and transport vehicles and their spare parts.

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, NPR 6.83 billion in revenue was collected from iron and iron-made goods, NPR 5.26 billion from textile imports, and NPR 4.91 billion from electric machinery, equipment, and their spare parts.

Similarly, NPR 1.83 billion in revenue was collected from the import of alcoholic beverages. Cosmetics generated NPR 1.81 billion in revenue.
