Supreme Court Begins Hearing on Resham Lal Chaudhary's Candidacy Reinstatement Plea

Kathmandu. The hearing has commenced at the Supreme Court on the writ petition challenging the disqualification of Resham Lal Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal. The hearing on the writ filed by Chaudhary is being conducted in a joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Sharanga Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana.

Regarding the writ against the decision to disqualify Chaudhary's candidacy, a single bench of Justice Balkrishna Dhakal had previously ordered on Magh 11 to seek a written response from the Election Commission on the writ filed by Chaudhary.  

Furthermore, both parties were summoned to appear for discussions regarding the interim order. On Magh 15, a joint bench of Justices Balkrishna Dhakal and Nripadhwaj Niraula had ordered the submission of the case file related to the homicide case verdict as per the previous order.

The case was scheduled for hearing on the interim order today after the completion of the tasks as per the previous order and the receipt of the case file. His candidacy, registered for the House of Representatives election in Kailali Constituency No. 1 scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21, had been rejected by the Election Commission.
