Veteran Nepali Actor Sunil Thapa Passes Away at 68

Kathmandu, February 7: Actor Sunil Thapa passed away today at the age of 68.

Actor Thapa was rushed to Nabil Hospital in Thapathali for treatment this morning after suddenly experiencing health complications. Mohan Niraula, President of the Film Artists Association, stated that the hospital informed them that actor Thapa died of a heart attack.

"He had to go for film shooting in the morning and had asked his assistant to wake him up early. When the assistant went to wake him up in the morning, actor Thapa was found unconscious and was brought to the hospital. The hospital declared him dead after preliminary examination," said President Niraula.

Actor Thapa is survived by his wife, one son, and one daughter. "His family members reside in Mumbai, India, and they are on their way," added President Niraula.

Thapa, who had been active in Nepali and Indian cinema for a long time, his untimely demise has shocked the entire Nepali art fraternity. Thapa, who succeeded in bringing fame and respect to villainous characters in films similar to lead actors, was especially popular through the character of 'Rate Kaila'. He resided in an apartment in Shankhamul.
