Rastriya Swatantra Party Candidate Expresses Confidence in Winning Dailekh Election Amidst Shifting Voter Sentiment

Are you contesting the election from RSP against your former colleagues, how is the response?

The election atmosphere is very good. We have completed one phase of campaigning in all municipalities except Narayan. During that time, even when I didn't say 'I am the candidate of the Bell (Ghanți)', people would say, 'We will vote for the Bell, please tell them the Bell's candidate has arrived.' Then I say that I am the candidate of the Bell.

Currently, voters want to see the candidate of the Bell. They are saying they need to change their vote this time. Especially those living abroad or in cities have been calling home and asking people to take photos with the Bell's candidate and send them to me. The response is positive.

RSP emerged from urban votes; some say it's difficult to compete in a rural area like Dailekh?

As far as Karnali is concerned, those who are working in foreign employment or in cities are calling home and asking them to vote for the Bell this time. Because of this, the atmosphere in the village is like that of the city. People in the villages also want change now. Furthermore, since our two other leaders, Amar and Rabindraji, have been tested multiple times, our atmosphere is good.

Why should people vote for you?

The country is currently at a stage of deciding whether to stay in the status quo or move towards change. I stand in favor of change. I have been active in social campaigns in Dailekh for 5 years. I am a new and untainted person, so I hope the people will choose me.

You were recommended as a candidate by UML but later joined RSP; some call you opportunistic?

I did not leave any MP post or position of profit from UML. I was only an ordinary member in UML. Now, friends within UML and Congress are saying they will change their votes. New people naturally join a new party. The public will accept me.

Do you envision winning in a place like Dailekh with a party that doesn't have a strong organization?

We will win under any circumstances. According to my current assessment, I will win by securing 12,500 votes. Congress might be second, and UML and Maoists might be third or fourth. The Congress candidate is also fresh.

I stand for change. Development is not possible in Nepal unless some aspects of the constitution are changed, not just for development.
