Progressive Democratic Party Expels Parliamentary Candidate Govinda Karkheti for 'Anti-Party Activities'

Butwal. The Progressive Democratic Party has expelled Govinda Karkheti, the candidate for the House of Representatives from Rupandehi Constituency Number 3, from the party, stripping him of even basic membership. The party stated that Karkheti's candidacy has also been rendered inactive due to his involvement in activities contrary to the party's interests.

According to the official letter issued by the party, this strict action was taken after it was confirmed that Karkheti seriously violated the party's policies, principles, and bylaws. The party has leveled serious allegations against him, including demanding inappropriate sums of money from party leaders after becoming a candidate and attempting to make his own wife a proportional representative candidate from another political party. 

The letter, signed by District In-charge Pankaj Rai, mentioned that the decision to remove him was made jointly by the Central, Provincial, and District Committees, concluding that such activities damaged the party's image. Following this decision by the party, all of Karkheti's responsibilities and authority have been revoked effective today. The party claims this is a final and mandatory decision to protect discipline and party bylaws.

Meanwhile, immediately after being expelled from the party, Karkheti announced that he has joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He declared that he would no longer seek votes as a candidate for the Progressive Democratic Party and informed about his integration into the RSP. 

He claimed that the allegation of 'demanding money' leveled by the party was completely false and baseless.
