Bhutan's Royal Thimphu Club to Face Jhapa-11 in Ongoing Dharan Gold Cup Football Tournament

Dharan. In the ongoing 26th edition of the International Invitation Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament in Dharan, Royal Thimphu Club (Bhutan) is set to compete against Jhapa-11 (Jhapa) starting at 3:00 PM today.

In the opening match of the tournament, which began on Thursday at the Dharan Stadium in Dharan Metropolitan City-16, the host Dharan Football Club advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Georgian Football Club (India) 4-2 in a tiebreaker.

Ten teams are participating in the competition. The winner will receive NPR 1 million and the runner-up NPR 500,000, while the best player will be awarded a Honda scooter, informed Pratap Tamang, President of the organizing Dharan Football Club. According to him, each 'Man of the Match' in every game will be awarded NPR 10,000.

The organizers have stated that the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, and best coach will each receive NPR 25,000, while the top scorer will be awarded NPR 35,000.

The tournament, organized by Dharan Football Club since 2055 BS, started on Magh 22 and will run until Falgun 2. Last year's tournament title was won by NRT Club Kathmandu, while Church Boys United Club Kathmandu was the runner-up.
