Bhojpur District to Vaccinate Nearly 1,400 Adolescent Girls Against HPV

Bhojpur. In Bhojpur, nearly 1,400 adolescent girls will be vaccinated under the 'Human Papillomavirus' (HPV) vaccination campaign. District Health Office Chief Sirjana Banmali informed that the vaccination program will run from Magh 28 to Falgun 1 of this year.

Chief Banmali stated that the HPV vaccine campaign against cervical cancer is being organized for adolescent girls studying in Grade 6 across schools in all nine local levels of the district. According to her, 1,396 adolescent girls will be vaccinated in the district this time. The Health Office aims to mandatorily include girls aged 10 to 14 who missed the vaccine last year.

Adolescent girls aged 10 to 14 who are out of school are also being given the HPV vaccine. Under the vaccination campaign, 231 vaccination centers have been designated in the district. One health worker and one volunteer will be deployed at each vaccination center.

Cervical cancer is one of the serious problems seen in women in Nepal. The Health Office stated that a cancer 'screening' program for women above 30 years of age is also in operation to reduce cervical cancer.
