Man Arrested in Sunsari with NPR 28,000 in Counterfeit Currency

Inaruwa. Police in Harinagara Rural Municipality, Sunsari, have apprehended a young man with NPR 28,000 in counterfeit Nepali currency. The arrested individual has been identified as 25-year-old Bahis Miyan, a resident of Inaruwa Municipality Ward No. 10 in Sunsari itself.

Police were alerted after receiving information that Miyan attempted to purchase goods at a grocery store in Harinagara Rural Municipality Ward No. 1 around 8 PM on Thursday, using counterfeit notes. Upon receiving information that he was trying to defraud the public with fake currency, a police team from the Ramnagar Bhutaha Police Post rushed to the scene.

The police stated that after taking Miyan into custody and searching him, they discovered 28 counterfeit notes of NPR 1,000 denomination in his possession. The District Police Office, Sunsari, confirmed that all the recovered notes appeared to be fake (counterfeit).

Miyan, who was arrested with the fake currency, is being held at the District Police Office, Sunsari, for further investigation. Police stated that preparations are underway to file a case against him under the offense related to currency (issuing counterfeit money), and an investigation is also ongoing to determine if other individuals are involved in this gang.
