Nepal Oil Corporation Denies Widespread Gas Shortage Amid Consumer Complaints

Kathmandu. Complaints have surfaced regarding a gas shortage in the market. Amid these complaints, the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has stated that there is no gas shortage.

The NOC indicated that while demand has increased due to higher consumption during winter, there is no shortage as rumored in the market. Furthermore, they have increased the import quota for gas, targeting the upcoming elections. Following complaints of a market shortage, the Department of Commerce, Supply, and Consumer Protection monitored gas industries on Monday.

The department reported that during the monitoring, sufficient quantities of gas were found. The department monitored Nepal Gas Industry in Balaju, Sai Baba Gas Industry in Kalanki, Mahakali Gas Stores in Bhaktapur, and Gas & Oxygen Traders.

It was stated that general instructions were given to these industries during the monitoring. Similarly, a team from the department has been dispatched to monitor gas industries, including Everest Gas, on Tuesday.

The department also urged the public not to heed rumors of shortages, confirming that gas stocks are adequate following the monitoring.
