Mustang Police Extend Deadline Again for Recruitment of Election Security Personnel

Mustang. The District Police Office has extended the deadline for the third time for the recruitment of security personnel needed for the House of Representatives election scheduled for February 21 ( फागुन २१). After failing to meet the required quota despite calling for applications twice, the police have reopened applications, giving an additional two days.

A total of 312 election police (temporary police) from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force were requested for election security. However, only 290 personnel have reported by the time the selection process concluded after the second extension, stated Santosh Basnyal, Information Officer at the Mustang District Police Office. The shortage occurred because some applicants failed the selection process, and others never reported after applying.

Remarkably, 80 percent of those coming to be recruited in Mustang are from outside the district. Road, agricultural, and hotel laborers working in Mustang have shown the most interest in becoming election police. The District Police first opened applications on Poush 25 (पुस २५), but local participation remained low due to the severe winter cold and geographical remoteness.

The police are hopeful that the required numbers will be met within the extended deadline. Preparations are underway to appoint the selected individuals and provide them with physical training from Magh 15 (माघ १५) to Magh 25 (माघ २५).
