Voting Underway for 17 National Assembly Seats as One Election Unopposed

Kathmandu. Voting has commenced for the 18 vacant seats in the National Assembly set to become vacant from Falgun 20, 2082 BS. Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated that since one seat in the Kosi Province for the Khas Arya category was elected unopposed, voting has begun for the remaining 17 positions.

Nepali Congress candidate Sunil Bahadur Thapa has been elected unopposed for the Khas Arya position in Kosi Province. Voting for the remaining 17 seats has started at polling stations across all seven provinces.

Polling stations are located at the Provincial Election Office premises in Biratnagar, Morang, for Kosi Province; at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Mithila Culture Center, Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-4, Dhanusha, for Madhesh Province; and at the Bhutandevi Secondary School, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-4, Makwanpur, for Bagmati Province.

Furthermore, spokesperson Bhattarai informed that polling centers are situated at the Provincial Election Office premises in Pokhara, Kaski, for Gandaki Province; at the Karmachari Milan Kendra in Ghorahi, Dang, for Lumbini Province; at the Provincial Election Office premises in Birendranagar, Surkhet, for Karnali Province; and at the Provincial Election Office premises in Dhangadhi, Kailali, for Sudurpaschim Province.

Members of the Provincial Assembly, Mayors and Deputy Mayors, and Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of Rural Municipalities are registered as voters for the National Assembly member elections.
