47 farmers in Parbat provided with grant assistance

Parbat, Dec 27: The Bihadi rural municipality in Parbat district has provided grant assistance to a total of 47 farmers within its rural municipality in a bid to motivate them.

The beneficiaries received Rs 10,000 each which is expected to support their agricultural production.

Parbin Gurung, Chairperson of the Bihadi rural municipality, shared that the grant assistance was provided to encourage farmers and support their productivity.

He explained that grant was given to assist them in their farming as he added, fuel is not easily available in remote areas and there is lack of skilled human resources to operate and repair agricultural tools.

According to him, local farmers are far from adopting modern machineries. "Farmers here still do not use machines for ploughing. They still use wooden plough and yoke and plough the land using oxen," he added.

Likewise, seven farmers in ward no 1 received the grant while 13 farmers benefitted in ward no 2 and only one farmer received the support in ward no 4. Six farmers received financial assistance in ward no 3, 12 in ward no 5 and seven in ward no 6.

The local level government had earlier provided Rs 10,000 grant to farmers raising he-buffalo and local breed of cow while similar amount was given as incentive to new mothers.

Also, farmers who purchased hybrid buffaloes and cows for commercial milk production were given Rs 20,000 per cattle-head.
