Rise in fire incidents with onset of dry season

Kathmandu, Nov 15: A nationwide increase has been observed in fire incidents with the onset of the dry season, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

Fire incidents have occurred in seven places across the country from the morning of November 13 to 10 am the next day.

NDRRMA stated that large quantity of physical property has been damaged in the fire incidents occurred in Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Bhaktapur, Rolpa, Surkhet, and Kailali.

Fire incidents occurred at 16 locations throughout the country on November 13. On that day, there was a fire incident in two places in Bara and Rupandehi.

Similarly, physical property has been destroyed due to fire incidents occurred in Panchthar, Jhapa, Morang, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Rautahat, Bhaktapur, Rasuwa, Kaski, Syangja, Baglung, and Humla.

NDRRMA said fire incidents occurred at 11 locations across the country on November 12. On November 11, fire incidents were reported at eight locations, and on November 10, fire incidents had occurred at nine locations across the country.

According to NDRRMA, fire incidents have occurred due to public negligence and carelessness and it has urged for precaution.

Similarly, on Friday alone, three people fell ill due to altitude sickness in Taplejung. They fell sick while on the way to the Kanchanjunga base camp. Among them were two Japanese citizens who suffered from altitude sickness at a place called Khamachen. Similarly, an American citizen fell ill due to altitude sickness on the way back from Kanchanjunga Base Camp.

Likewise, NDRRMA stated that three people were injured due to animal attacks in Morang, Sindhupalchok, Myagdi and Bardiya.
