NRNA Delegation Meets with Prime Minister Karki
A delegation from the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), led by Mahesh Shrestha, met with Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Thursday. The meeting focused on discussing the country's current challenging situation.
Commitment to Support Elections and Government
During the meeting, the delegation congratulated the Prime Minister and wished her a successful term. The NRNA expressed its commitment to providing support to ensure the successful conduction of elections and to help make the government effective. A participant from the NRNA, Engineer R.K. Sharma, shared that they assured the Prime Minister of their full cooperation.
Key Issues Discussed
The discussion covered several important issues concerning non-resident Nepalis. These topics included matters related to NRN citizenship, problems with certificates, the social security fund, and finding ways to channel remittances from consumption towards savings through collective investment schemes. The delegation requested the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister, the Energy Minister, and the Chief Secretary to address these issues promptly.
Additional Proposals and Assurances
The NRNA also presented suggestions to the Prime Minister regarding the safety of Nepali migrant workers abroad and related police services and arrangements. Furthermore, the delegation requested a fair resolution and efficient handling of issues concerning the NRNA's own secretariat. They reported that the Prime Minister assured them of her support in this matter. The delegation handed over all their proposals on NRN citizenship and collective investment to the Prime Minister. An additional request was made to formulate policies and rules that would reduce risks for businesspersons.
