Today's Wholesale Prices for Vegetables and Fruits in Kathmandu

The Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee has set the maximum wholesale prices for agricultural produce for today. The prices vary depending on the type, origin, and quality of the product.

Common Vegetable Prices

For tomatoes, large Nepali tomatoes are priced at 60 rupees per kilogram, while large Indian tomatoes cost 80 rupees per kilogram. Small local tomatoes are 25 rupees per kilogram, small tunnel-grown tomatoes are 44 rupees, and small Indian tomatoes are 30 rupees. Red potatoes are 53 rupees per kilogram for the Nepali variety, 38 rupees for Indian, and 46 rupees for the "mude" type. Dried Indian onions are 38 rupees per kilogram. Local carrots are 120 rupees per kilogram, and local Banda leaves are 60 rupees. Local cauliflower is 50 rupees, red radish is 40 rupees per piece, and hybrid white radish is 45 rupees per kilogram. Long green chilies are 20 rupees per kilogram, while thick green chilies are 25 rupees. Tane bodi (a type of bean) is 90 rupees per kilogram, and maize bodi is 100 rupees.

Other Vegetables and Greens

Local ghee simi (a type of bean) is 90 rupees per kilogram, and the hybrid variety is the same price. Tate simi is 70 rupees, Bhatmas koshe (soybean pods) are 100 rupees, bitter gourd is 50 rupees, bottle gourd is 50 rupees, and local parwal (pointed gourd) is 65 rupees, as is the Terai variety. Spine gourd is 30 rupees, squash is 50 rupees, and Jhiguni (a type of mushroom) is 80 rupees. Ripe pumpkin is 55 rupees per kilogram, long green pumpkin is 45 rupees, and thick green pumpkin is 40 rupees. Turnip is 100 rupees, and okra is 65 rupees per kilogram.

Tubers, Leafy Greens, and Herbs

Yam is 75 rupees per kilogram, squash is 20 rupees, rayosag (mustard greens) are 100 rupees, tori ko saag (mustard leaf) is 100 rupees, green onions are 100 rupees, common mushrooms are 160 rupees, and Dalle mushrooms are 320 rupees. Kurilo (asparagus) is 450 rupees, and Niguro (fiddlehead fern) is 90 rupees. Broccoli is 140 rupees, beetroot is 70 rupees, Sajivan (moringa) is 250 rupees, red Banda is 150 rupees, coriander leaf is 120 rupees, celery is 400 rupees, parsley is 1100 rupees, sauf ko saag (dill) is 350 rupees, mint is 900 rupees, tamarind is 180 rupees, Tama (bamboo shoot) is 110 rupees, tofu is 120 rupees, and Gundruk (fermented leafy greens) is 300 rupees per kilogram.

Fruit Prices

Apples in a jhola (bag) are 250 rupees per kilogram, while Fuji apples are 380 rupees. Bananas are 135 rupees per dozen, limes are 150 rupees, pomegranates are 350 rupees, green watermelon is 60 rupees, Mausambi (sweet lime) is 160 rupees, Junar (orange) is 250 rupees, and Bhui katahar (a type of fruit) is 150 rupees per piece. Local kakro (cucumber) is 55 rupees, hybrid kakro is 30 rupees, local pears are 90 rupees, Chinese pears are 220 rupees, Nepali guava is 60 rupees, Indian guava is 100 rupees, mango is 120 rupees, and lapsi (Nepali hog plum) is 60 rupees. Kiwi is 400 rupees, custard apple is 130 rupees, and avocado is 300 rupees per kilogram.

Spices, Dried Items, and Fish

Amla (Indian gooseberry) is 90 rupees, ginger is 120 rupees, dried red chilies are 400 rupees, fresh green chilies are 40 rupees, green bullet chilies are 40 rupees, green Mache chilies are 90 rupees, Akabare chilies are 200 rupees, and Bhede chilies are 90 rupees. Fresh garlic is 150 rupees, fresh coriander is 80 rupees, dried Chinese garlic is 220 rupees, dried Nepali garlic is 160 rupees, dried mushrooms are 200 rupees, fresh mushrooms are 250 rupees, dried fish is 1000 rupees, fresh Rahu fish is 350 rupees, fresh Bachuwa fish is 280 rupees, fresh Stumpy fish is 250 rupees, tree tomatoes are 250 rupees, King mushrooms are 300 rupees, and Shiitake mushrooms are 1000 rupees per kilogram.
