Maoist Center Holds Emergency Meeting on Protests

The CPN (Maoist Center) party has held an emergency meeting of its available officials. The meeting was called to discuss the ongoing protests by the GenZ generation across Kathmandu and other parts of the country, as well as the current political situation.

Meeting Postpones Campaign and Offers Condolences

The meeting took place on Monday in Tarifaat, Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-3. As a result of the situation, the party decided to immediately postpone its ongoing public awareness campaign, known as the Maoist Mid-Hill (Pushpa Lal Highway) campaign. It was also decided that a full meeting of all office bearers will be called in Kathmandu tomorrow.

Demands for Government Action

The meeting expressed that the party is stunned and saddened by the tragic events during the GenZ protests. It offered heartfelt condolences to the youths who were killed by police gunfire and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured. Furthermore, the Maoist Center made a formal demand to the government. It urged the government to immediately address the key demands raised by the GenZ movement. These demands include lifting the ban on social media and taking action against corruption. The party stressed that the government must take responsible and concrete steps to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
