Mayor's Son and Agriculture Officer Arrested for Faking Deaths to Embezzle Government Grants
Dhangadhi – In a shocking case of fraud, Janak Singh Dhami (28), son of Shelyashikhar Municipality Mayor Vijay Singh Dhami, and Deepak Raj Bisht (24), the municipality’s agriculture chief, have been arrested for declaring two living people as dead to pocket a NPR 220,000 government grant.

The accused, both linked to the Malikarjun Farmers’ Leading Group, forged fake death certificates for the group’s secretary (Manju Dhami) and treasurer (Janaki Dhami) to claim funds under the Okhar Development Program.

When the duo tried to renew the group’s bank account using the forged documents at Global Bank, staff grew suspicious and alerted authorities.
